Check out these shots. There's Luke Skywalker piloting a landspeeder through Endor, Han Solo infiltrating
the Death Star dressed as a Stormtrooper and of course some meaty X-Wing shootouts. It looks like Star Wars' greatest hits
and you're right in the middle of it.
Forget all the knobby Force philosophising nonsense of the last two films, because
all the action here is taken from the first (or should that be last?) three classics. And this time, rather than just flying
around in an X-Wing or a Y-Wing we legged it around Hoth on foot.
FEEL THE FORCE Playing as Luke Skywalker,
we crashed into the Tundra before grappling onto an AT-AT and smashing through the bottom hatch with our lightsaber. Then
we chucked our grenade into the belly of the Walker before a cutscene shows the thing tumbling to the ground.
Of course
there are typical Rogue Squadron space shooting moments - the best one being over the Yavin moonbase where a swarm of enemy
TIEs swoop towards your X-Wing. And the best news is that there is a new co-op mode where you and a mate take out the TIEs
together.
The Endor bits are impressive too. Playing as Chewie we stamped around Endor in an AT-ST, lobbing our Ewok
mates to lob rocks at imperial walkers. Then we leapt on a Speederbike and went rushing through the forest, shoving scout-troopers
towards head-on tree death.
Whether all these classic moments make a great game when they're stuck together remains
to be seen, but this is the best looking Rogue Squadron game yet.
